Fuel Gauge not working

Postby JimmyJam » Tue Feb 09, 2010 6:35 pm

Hi all. Somebody please help me. I was having a leisurely drive and noticed my fuel gauge was alright 1 minute and then the next was dead and not showing any sign of life at all. I twiddled with a few wires behind and under the dash. But no luck. Could someone please tell me what to check first and what order to do things in. Thank you all so much, Jimmy.

Check the wiring, starting at the sender in the top of the tank under the boot carpet.
If you leave the ignition on and touch the wire to earth the the gauge should rise to full.
Also check the voltage stabilizer on the back of the dash, though this would also kill the temp gauge.

Have fun!
