hb temp sender..

Postby yoeddynz » Sat Oct 17, 2009 7:51 pm

is it the same as a chevette one? The same thread at least?
I need to fit a sender from an hb into my ford crossflow engine as the ford sender makes gauge read way too high.

Alex,

I think you will find its a diff size to the chevette one. the chevette ones are wee little things at the front of the head, the HB had a mucho larger one (same thread as the water tube out the top of the head) at the back of the head.

Why not make a T section into a hose and place it there? Or get a smiths gauge and use that instead of the car unit.

Had the same trouble with my kit car. Had to match an aftermarket gauge with a Merc one.
Solution was easy. Maplin Electronics sell multi packs of resistors, many different value ones in one pack.
With engine at normal temp, connect a resistor or multiple resistors in series or parallel with the sender wire till you bring the reading to mid way.

Boyd :)
Please don't sell me a Viva. I'll just ruin it.
