ign warning light

:? Hi all when my HB is ticking over the red ignition light stays on but my amp meter says its not discharging its right in the middle and the light stays on till you get past about 1800 revs and when its on every time you stop at lights it starts to anoy you! any ideas. Next prob is when you turn the engine off you get a click from i think is the solenoid which is also anoying me PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!! :?

Had this on my Ha a while back,

turned out to be a slack fan belt

Hi Glen yer tryed that belt was a bit slack and worn but nope still does it thanks anyway :cry:

My HB does this, the ign light isnt fully illuminated, it just glows (only at tickover). I was under the impression this was normal as the dynamo wasnt turning fast enough to provide a charge. As soon as you increase the revs, the light extinguishes.

My old SL90 did this as well!

thanks its just this is the fourth HB ive had and never had this happen before, the only difference is they all had alternaters, don't know if this makes a differance. :thanx:

yes i think it does make a difference....i remember my dads HB with a dynamo, that used to glow at tickover too.

My HB with dynamo did this as well. Could be the dynamo is getting a bit tired(New Brushes), or the control box needs a clean/tweak.
