My late HC comes with a cone cap over the lead that shrouds the coil. Can you still get them as the new lead is plain and the terminals on the coil are exposed?

You should be able to slip the rubber boot off the new lead and fit the old cover. Use some WD40 to help slip the rubber boot back on.
