Your 057 is the HD version of the original 038. The 015 is similar to the 057 but not as tall. I've used Varta batteries for the past long number of years. The one in my daily driver has been in there 5 years now but it's also been in the 2 previous cars I owned! The one in our Minor is 7 or 8 years old and still strong even though the car does less than 500 miles per year.

Thanks for that, can't seem to find a Varta 015 anywhere will keep looking. I think it pays to buy a decent battery especially when the car is used every day as mine is.

Standard battery for the OHV engine is the 038 - adequate for the Job and has terminals +ve nearest bulkhead and on the left similar spec to the 054 ony terminalsare other way round!

Hi,I've got an 015 on the Firenza which I got from Tayna batteries and it's maintained by a charger bought from Aldi which I'd compare favourably to the C-Tech and Oxford units I've got my bikes hooked up to. The 015 is only a few quid more than a 038 so I didn't see the point of getting the smaller capacity battery.
Regards,Dave.

OOPS, forgot to check the terminal orientation..... Better stick with the search for an 015 unless you're prepared to alter the cables. You would also need to check that the retaining bracket doesn't touch or has the potential to touch the terminals on the 054.

To clarify 038 and 015 both have terminal orientation safe for the retaining clamp i.e +ve post towards the bulkhead and left side of battery - 054 has terminals on right side of battery if +ve is closest to bulkhead - potential to short on clamp

Have a look on Ebay.

Here's the description of one from there - 'CAR BATTERY FOR B33 45AH 12V SIZE 015 HEAVY DUTY VARTA BLUE 464 B33'

Looks like Varta code them as B33
