Starting problems

Going to a show on Sunday so thought I would take it out today. Not been out in a few months.
Artery charged up but clicking solenoid. Put volt meter on the red and white wire off the solenoid (mines a black wire, must have been replaced) shows current flow and cranks over.
So can I jump that wire or try something else?
