Stainless steel trims

Postby chrisdunham » Sat Oct 17, 2009 6:16 pm

Folks, how do I go about removing the stainless steel trims along the base of the windows? I dont want to prise it for fear of bending it. Are they just clipped on or are there securing bolts within the door itself?

Help!

Thanks

if you mean the window scraper moulding, then they are held on by four fork clips which hook over the inside of the door shell.
Easiest way to get them off is to lower the window down, and get yourself a plastic spatula tool or a trim tool and gently prise them up while lifting the moulding.

Hope that helps

Hi Paul, no its not the rubber bit, mine also has a steel trim which runs along the top of the door (just below the rubber), thats the bit I need to remove, but I dont want to damage it by trying to force it off....

when u say the top of the door, i presume your meaning the just above the handle, or do you mean at the top of the door frame??

If it is the door scraper moulding, which has the rubber trim attatched to it, then that is what i was on about earlier. The are joined together but you remove them both at the same time (as explained in earlier post) which is easier and less chance of breaking the clips.

Hope that helps, if not, post a pic so i can see what you mean.

Hi Paul, the trim is separate to the scraper, i've managed to get the door one off, but the one along the bottom of the rear window is proving a bit more difficult... see attached pic!

Any advice welcome

i presume it will be held on with the same sort of clips from looking at the front trim you've removed. Best bet is to just bite the bullet and very care
fully try easing it off.

Good luck
