Spence: No bracing along there but I'm sure that it could be fixed.

Jon: Haven't tried a fit yet. I've replied to your PM.

Cheers,
Phil

Any idea on the weight saving with using a fibreglass bonnet? I'm useless at guesstimating but I know my bonnet is bloody heavy! I definitely will be ordering a fibreglass bonnet at some point. :D

Happy new year to everyone.

I haven't checked out the weight comparison between the steel and fibreglass bonnets.

I received my bonnet just over 3 weeks from placing my order.
Cost was £175

Spence - if you phone the guy - he;s very helpful , i said id like a bonnet catch area reinfoced with stainless steel sheet - he said as long as i made the bits he would fit them in the frame before the top skin goes on .

Cost is an issue at present for me, isnt christmas costly ?

Looking at a steel bonnet - all the f/g one needs is a steel plate at the centre with a least 4 captive nuts welded on - then when u get it back u can make a steel plate to hold the spring/strike pin and safety catch , then bolt it in place :D

The strike pin is not dead centre of the bonnet though - so some careful measuring and conveying of the instructions would be needed if you wanted to weld a nut in that backing plate to accept the strike pin-.
Cheers - Jon
