Hi Dave , due to the HC's "sweep away rear" of the front and rear arches , i dont think anything other than the originals would look ok . Certainly , the time spent trying to graft on a different shape arch would , in my opinion, be far too great and would probably end up spoiling the look of the car.
If your going down the extra wide wheels route , then probably your best bet would be "old nail" arches , or even ford escort mk1 works arches . Obviously the works arches would need to be grafted on but at least they are fibreglass and easy to work with.

It was me that looked into other arches that might fit. Got through a few different ones but found the Golf MK1 rear arches a good fit but never went through with fitting them as I when down the nose cone conversion road instead and didn't want the extra work on the front arches making the nose cone arch sections match.

If you have enough skill to fit them they would look awsome. (seen a set on a MK1 Capri once, fantastic!).

They flare out and look mean.

Here my car almost finished....

Hi like the looks of the nose cone. Not really my cup of tea though. I have been looking for fibreglass wings at moment. Have been thinking about mk1 escort forest arches as I have seen these before and need to do repairs to the rear arches as well . People have mentioned "Nailer" arches not come across theses yet but still looking. The other problem is getting wheels to fit as well and I know there is loads of debate over HC wheels.

HC wheel fitment is a nightmare for me as not a strong fan of the normal choices really.

I looked at forest/works arches but they will look odd unless you can fill them with very wide wheels. I looked at the Old Nail wings but the same problem exists with them, how to fill those arches. Plus the only place your likly to get a set from is the DSG but you'll need to hire the moulds and then get someone to make you a set up, unless your handy with fiberglass yourself.

I think that because our cars have a smaller following than the Escorts and other cars we have to do a lot of trial and error work ourselfs but this site really helps to share what works and what doen't.
