Chrome trim front and back windows

Postby golden wonder » Thu Jul 14, 2011 3:48 pm

Hi,

I have a 1972 Blue Viva HC 1256 2-door and would like some chrome trim for the front and back windows. Can anyone tell me where to get it from please?

Also, do you need a special tool to put it on? and how much of it do I need? Do you buy it in lengths or will whoever I buy it off know how much Ill need?

Thanks :-)

On eBay there is loades of it. I bought two rolls, can't remember the length I got but roughly measure each side and add them together and get plenty spare. U can get a trim tool which makes it alot easier.

Look at frosts for them.

Think Woolies sell it has well, but make sure you get the right profile.

Was just going to post about fitting chrome front trim to HC. Is it possible to do it without special bit of kit? :? (Think i"ve seen them for sale,£25, bit steep for something that will prob be used just once!)

A length of welding wire bent into the same shape as the fitting tool works very well

The new issue of Practical Classics Mag has an article on changing windscreen rubbers and trim. Not a Viva, but the principles the same.(August 2011).

I've been told the trim is the same as in Fords.

Same as in a lot of cars tbh.

The profile is like a speed hump with small bits added either side of the bottom.
