is the HA windscreen seal the same profile as HB?

Postby yoeddynz » Wed Nov 02, 2011 1:39 am

Firstly- I did do a search on this forum but couldn't find the answer I was looking for.
I need a new screen rubber for my HB. My local supplier, Basisnz.co.nz , has the seal listed for an HA and Anthony says its the same seal profile for the HB. Is this correct. I just want to check.
He sells the seal off the roll at about 14 quid per meter with around 3.3 meters needed.
This seems an OK price to me ?

cheers all

You can use the HA one, but it has small differences...we found the lip was a bit smaller, but if you need one urgently, then better than a knackered one for sure....the HB rubbers i am re-making are probably going to be better than the original ones...will certainly last longer than std rubber. Profile is being checked soon.

Does a Mk1 Escort not fit as well. Did Scott (Opelscot) not use them on his HBs?

Whoops- late reply I know
Cheers for info. I have for now sealed the rubber with silicone. I used masking tape and did a very neat job and can only tell its there due to the shiny silicone.

If I can get a old bit of HB screen rubber from a friend I'll use it to see how well the local stuff matches. If it doesnt then I'll buy one from scotts old rubber as I think the freight on one from the club would be too much.

Now see my next question about where do leaks come from near heater......

I'm not sure. I think I can import stuff up to the value of $400nzd (200squid) before the tax man takes his bit. But the freight costs are the killer.

Hannah's sister is coming over to NZ in dec though... She could put a seal in her cabin luggage and claim its licorice for her trip... :)
