I think people using the term SHOT BLAST don't actually mean SHOT BLAST its just a generic name for media blasting. Media blasting can mean anything from steel pellets which will dent bodywork down to soda ash which will just remove paint and do little else. My GT shell was Media Blasted with crushed glass with the outer panels like roof etc, done with the same media 'recycled' (so it was finer). The result was a clean body-shell with a slightly "keyed" finish that holds undercoat perfectly.
Acid dipping is again another overused term, it can mean any form of liquid stripper, applied to a body panel to remove paint. Some acids eat metal and if any is left in the shell after the rinse it can start to attack the shell after it has been painted sometime later.
The last and by far one of the best methods (in my opinion) is "cooking" where the shell is literally put in an oven where the paint and any filler sealants oils etc, are burnt off. The temperature is controlled carefully so the metal doesn't heat up too quickly or cool off afterwards slowly. The process takes a number of days. The process doesn't buckle panels and produced a perfectly clean shell.
I have seen all three types in the flesh and all have positive and negatives, but when I get to the HA its the oven.... The most cost effective for me.
