Front sill for Vauxhall Viva HC ...?

Postby lolalola » Sun May 06, 2012 10:26 pm

Long shot, but worth asking - I'm looking for a front sill for my Vauxhall Viva HC Estate (see pic - this was pre-rust!). Any ideas...? Anyone make them? I mean the panel behind the front numberplate, below the grille... assuming it's simply called a front sill! :)

Front valence, sills are the bits that go under the doors. No one makes them, just have to keep an eye out on ebay and see if anyone on here has one.

Valance, that's the one! Nobody make replacement parts, or part-parts? Like these kinda folk? :

Not that I know of, and those sills are expensive! Your only hope is ebayautojumbles or someone on here, dont think the club has any if your a member, there was a half front panel on ebay not long ago, even that was £175!!

Well, assuming I can't find one, how much (ballpark numbers) should I be paying for rust to be cut out and new metal welded in? I know that varies wildly, but, roughly..?

Including painting again aftervwelding, i think you be the other side of £300 for a quick job more if you want quality

Length of a piece of string, unfortunately. It depends on how bad it is, how great a job you want, how much cutting needs to be done, exactly where the corrosion is. For example if it's all on the lower section, that's not a hard panel to make repair sections for as it's basically a flat panel that's been curved a little, with some cut-outs with flanged edges. Higher up, though, it starts to get much more complicated so takes longer to make, conversely it's behind the grille so not so obvious.
