Space Behind Ashtray?

Postby oli8925 » Tue Aug 14, 2012 6:04 pm

My alarm box can no longer go where originally planned as the windscreen vent channels get in the way. Next best option seems to be behind the ashtray and under the space that I think was for a speaker in the middle of the top part of the metal dash section. Can anyone quickly tell me if there's usually an obstruction there, as my car's completely stripped and I can't remember what goes on behind it. Obviously on mine there is no speaker and I don't have the Magnum warning lights panel where the ashtray is.

Thanks,
Oli

I can't think of anything other than the loom - do the cables from the heater control panel go up or down? I know I can reach up from the passenger side tray to the back of the clock on mine.

One other thought might be to shorten the glove box if all else fails - cut the back off it, cut a piece out of the depth and stick the back on again.

Going to sound daft but all the alarm boxes etc could sit under the rear seat if you just lengthened said wires? There is a nice air gap under the seat and its hidden

Paul that's a good idea, didn't think of that, I'll have a closer look at the possibility tomorrow and see how much of the looms it has I'd have to lengthen.
