HA Water leak

Postby tritonofnor » Fri Mar 08, 2013 7:33 pm

Hi Guys.

Rear footwell is filling with water when it rains. Have traced the water leak so far.. Water enters the scuttle area, drains through the hoses into the a pillar, but is then not going anywhere other than into the sills where it eventually overflows onto the rear carpet! Where is this supposed to drain out? should there be a drain hole at the base of the pillar? looking at the drivers side there appears to be a drain at the base of the sill, but that could just be a bad weld! hate the idea that the inner sills get a regular fresh water rinse to aid rusting, and I'd quite like to get some carpets back in the car?

Thanks in advance for any help

the hoses should go into the inner wing area, and the water should drain out the bottom of the outer wing via a hole... sounds like its full up of rubbish and therefore filling up and flowing backwards into the car

sounds like its time to unbend a coat hangar, get the dremel out, and clear those drains then!

cleared the drains- bette rbut still leaking. Investigated the two drain hoses which were both looking good but proved to be perished beyond help when flexed - replaced with some wire reinforced hose from the local chandlery - I work in a boatyard - great improvement. Still got a bit of a leak so checked out the front and rear screen seals. Front windscreen had a section of the chrome locking trim cracking up in the bottom corner so I replaced this too - result - No more water ingress! Replaced the carpets using plain black car carpet bought on ebay two weeks ago and now have a dry, non musty, interior in the HA. It took some time and perseverance but it was well worth it in the long run.
