paint code

Postby vivaladvegas » Wed Oct 30, 2013 8:43 pm

Hi all,

I would appreciate some advice regarding my car. It's a 1972 Viva estate, 1256. The paint code is 1BL, trim code 1X3. It was originally a light metallic blue and it has black vinyl trim. Can anyone name the colour please? See pic; not brilliant quality but may help. I have looked at the charts on this forum and the colour name that appears to correspond with the code for my car is Aqua Starmist but it came with an Onyx interior trim colour. What colour is Onyx PVC? As simple 'black' doesn't appear in the trim colour list I assume it's black??
The paint suppliers I've spoken to say the code 1BL throws up a blue but it's a solid colour...

:help3:

Andrew.

Aqua Starmist is correct name for that colour. Onyx is a sort of beige colour or pale tan. Quite possible car interior has been changed in its life due to damage/wear.

Weeeeell, yes of course it might have been but it all looks totally untouched. Car isn't high mileage so... I dunno.

Typo surely? Onyx is black - the seats on my HPF are described in the catalogue as Onyx (Grey Insert). Isn't the pale tan called "Natural", nowadays shoes in that colour seem to be called "Nude" though I suspect that's just to make people read the article.

I thought Onyx was black as well. My Sport SL was Tasmin Orange with Onyx vinyl roof and Onyx interior. I thought the tan colour was 'Saddle'.
