Badge retaining plastic thingys!

Postby 1972nail » Wed May 14, 2014 11:35 pm

I'm refitting the individual VAUXHALL letters to the rear of my Firenza and was wondering what size of plastic inserts I need to order from Bresco. I have some from a Mini but they are too small.

Even if I can get the GM part number Bresco can match it up.

sorry about the metric but they are 4.2mm in diameter, 7.2mm long, The hole is difficult to measure but approx 2.8mm. The head is 5mm.
Vauxhall part no is 6386863.
I have some genuine ones in stock but not many.

Those sizes seem quite big. However I haven't measured the holes yet. I need 16 of them. Bresco only sell them in packs of 45!

Just checked the part number on the Bresco website and that ties up with the ones I believe will fit.

Well I'll need some for the hatch at some point (as long as I pluck up the confidence to drill the holes) so might take some surplus off you if you go for it. Postage from NI is probably more than half the price of the pack, though.

My decent tailgate is a later one (or earlier one) that has the single-piece "Vauxhall" badge, so the holes aren't there, and there's a lot of scope for drilling them wrongly and getting wonky letters, so I also might just slice off the pegs and glue the letters in place.

I thought all Sporthatches had the single red Griffin badge on the tailgate. Did some of them have the VAUXHALL letters?

As far as I know, all Sportshatches had the individual chrome letters when new.

Having never had any plastic clips for the badges on any of mine, I don't know if these are going to be of any use to you.

I found them here. I've got an account with them, as they have all the parts I need for the V8.

Thanks for the link. The plastic inserts are what I need but at £12.53 for 45 from Bresco ...... and I only need 16....... :? that makes them very expensive. I'm looking for other options rather than Bresco.
