Paint Codes and where to get it

Postby JimmyJames80 » Mon Jan 12, 2015 6:06 pm

Hi All,

Please excuse my ignorance however this is my first resto project and its only a small rolling one.

I am after some advice, I have a HA viva, I have been doing a small amount of bodywork and need to get hold of some paint, I have hand repaired my wing capping and saved them from the nasty rust and have primed them, I need to paint them to match the colour of the car however I am struggling on where to get paint and what is the correct code.

I am hoping one of you experts can help.

The car is listed as Cactus Green. However it has had (A Bad) paintjob in the last few years, so I can’t work out if the cars new colour is cactus green or if it’s the old colour (the one directly underneath as it keeps chipping or peeling off)

I have a couple of photos one of the original colour and her current colour.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The paint codes are listed here: http://www.vauxhallviva.com/?page_id=146

As for matching it, do you have a local paint supplier that you can take the car (or a part of the car) to, and have them match it? Many have spectrometers these days that can analyse exactly how to reproduce a colour, whether or not it's the proper colour for the car.

Its not easy getting the paint these days, although i did have some luck with our supplier, i managed to get pinewood green and Pampus green in spray rattle cans, mind you he did go out of his way and call in to a bodyshop freind for the ici paint code, not sure why one was on the system but not the other. oh by the way these are HB colours
