Postby andylake2003 » Sun Nov 29, 2015 8:11 pm

Hi chaps, getting towards painting the 1800 Gls now in it's original metalic Bronze colour, but where on the car will i find the paint code and is there a list of the codes somewhere?
Cheers Andy

Worth adding that link in the technical section?

Hi once again, I've done a bit more trawling on the web and I'm guessing the colour of your Viva GLS is "Coppertone Starfire". The code I've found for this is 4YW. This code can also be found in reference to an early 70's colour called "Tasman Orange" as Vauxhall / GM had a curious practice of reusing codes over the years which means the build year is just as important as the paint code when matching up paint. Although this is a Chevette if this the colour of your GLS I hope this info can be of use,if not I'll get my coat :run:

Credit for pic should go to the Chevette Owners Group.

I think we might have cracked it there guys. The plate mentioned behind the headlight is missing, but as Dave has found a Chevette in the same colour (or it looks pretty much the same) and the colour chart shows it is most likely Coppertone Starfire. Thanks for the help, i'll carry on doing colour matches with the painter now and hopefully it'll come out looking as though it's loved.
I hope Rachel isn't too jealous when she gets to see it, mine still has it's original beige vinyl roof. It'll be the perfect shade for an old fart like me, lol.
I'll try and get some pics uploaded soon although the car does look a mess at the mo.
Thanks for the help. :thanx:
