1978 HC GLS strip and clips

Postby wyke » Tue Apr 25, 2017 9:16 am

Weather is warming and I need to get back to my sorry looking maroon car .
I have asked before with no real joy and I don't want to pull one off in the wrong way and damage bodywork. Hoping to spray bit by bit from cans.
Any guidance to source strips and clips most welcome.

Thanks

Is this the one where the strips may not be original? I seem to recall someone asking about removing strips before.

I think I'm correct in saying that the trim clip that fixes to the bodywork is something like this one in shape: http://bresco.com/acatalog/Moulding-cli ... html#SID=3 - but maybe a slightly different size.

I removed some clips from the doors I've used on the Sportshatch - to remove the clips, push the centre piece through and that should relieve the pressure on the leg and allow it to be removed. The problem is then retrieving the centre piece from the panel behind.

To remove the strip from the clip, a bit of pressure in one direction allows the edge to clear the clip, then it can be levered away from the body. Use something very flat and wide like a wide paint scraper.

As I write this, I seem to recall that last time we didn't ask whether they were standard strips and that they might not be. Can you post some photos of what you have?

Sorry, I followed link but could not work out how to reduce the resolution.

I think I have created a link to see the strips
