Dash top in fiberglass

Postby MAGNUM 2300 » Wed Feb 28, 2007 8:48 pm

You all know the problem with the vinyl dash tops that crack on almost every old car. As you're in the wind making new fiberglass parts, why not make a fiberglass dash top???!!!! It would be easy to customize to your own liking. A smooth top could be coated with structure coat for the vinyl look, dressed up with leather, fabric or custom painted. The fitment would be easy as well. You could cast fittings whereever you like.

Highgate Saabparts in UK have done this with the dash top for the SAAB 96 V4, so why don't we do it for our Vauxhalls?!

I'd like one for the HC !!

HHmmm interesting idea ??, I dare say that would also be a possibility,
Nothing is impossible (apart from the combination numbers of the wifes purse ) :?

If you want , I will ask the question tommorrow when the other parts are delivered, I have a crash pad i can show them and see what they think.

I never thought about that one myself and now the seed has been planted, I need to try it out ,another challenge

too many challenges,,,,,,,,, not enough time !!!!!!!!!!!!!!, well theres always later in the year for total vauxhall  as long as I can make it to Billing in the 'love bus' I'll be happy :P

BTW... is the "hole" for the instrument cluster and the glove compartment the same size?? If so, it would fit both LHD and RHD cars... :D

Or...: When casting, leave the "holes" filled and we can cut it out ourselves. Even make room for stuff as extra instruments, CD/radio where the glove compartment would have been..
