Postby Andrew Morris » Sun Oct 30, 2005 4:40 pm

Ive go an HC front wing to go on shortly,Bare metal on the car ,prepared wing to fit.Do i need an etch primer or a weld through primer or both, any reccomendations. The sill in which the wing shrouds is ok but has had a repair toward the rear.Would it be a good idea to repalce the sill,do they come off easily with a grinder?.Andrew :? :?

Hi Andrew
If it's any help I have just used Bilt Hamber's Etch Weld Primer and it does do exactly what it says on the tin. Both metals I was welding had been taken down to bare metal then I applied the primer and plug welded. The primer was great and welding fine, so would definatly recommend.
Hope that helps.

Etch Primer

No sorry. I phone the advert in Practical Classic's and ordered it and it arrived 2 days later, it was a very good service. I bought a tin of spray first time to try out then I bought a couple of tin's of paint once I was happy with it.
(With the tins of paint you can dilute with up to 50% with thinners, which is what I did)
