Luckily the n/s light area isnt rusted at all , but the n/s inner boot area's the same as o/s . Also got new rear valance to go on .

Thanks , as i said its a bit of patience and some hammers . I made a template out of card to start (easy to get those curves and bends) - then some old fashioned panel beating
Just need to grind flush the welds then fill etc - hopefully wont need a lot of filler as i managed to get all the bends/curves in the right places

Just finished off the boot lip area - now start on getting that lower rear valance on - rear lamp panel looked a bit ropey so decided to cut out and see whats there (or not there) .
ground back the surface rust on inner rear valance and inner lamp panel - then anti rusted .
Used a piece of rear seat "X" brace to make the top of the light panel (it had just the right curve ) then used thick 1.2mm steel plate and curved the end to accept the top of the new lower valance (whenever that gets fitted !!) butted into existing bodywork to give flush finish , so minimal filling. Even managed to get the drain hole in the right place

Thanks Boyd , skilled and brave ? more like foolhardy and stupid :D , ive just started on the spare wheel well :x - cos theres nothing there !
All this work cos i intended to fit a lower valance . Trouble is - everything that valance attaches itself to does not exist :?
Im beginning to think the car looked a lot better with all the rust and holes .
more pics to follow once i clear all the rust thats on my garage floor!
Cheers - Jon

The tin worm has certainly been gorging itself on my poor viva! The eviction notice has been issued in the shape of an angle grinder and some new steel  Finally got the rear valance on :D after fully etch weld priming the back of it. Decided to beef up the lower leading edge of the back panel so the valance would have a sturdy bit of metal to weld to.
Oh well - back to the grindstone ,or angle grinder in this case !!

fancied a change to lying under the back of car so now lying under the drivers side - removed sill and rear wheel arch , fabricated lower leading edge of inner sill , as the original metal was looking a bit thin  zinc primed inner sill and inside of outer sill before welding .
With the sill in place i can now start on dressing up and welding the rear arch in place. Again - will have to fabricate an inner arch in order to get a solid fit.
