I found wide variation in the diameter of the rings supplied with some of the newer seal/retaining ring kits, within individual kits and in comparision with genuine NOS Lockheed ones, significant differences -enough to be noticeable with the naked eye without necessity of measuring them, suspect you might be encountering the same.

Absolutley right!! Turns out the diameter of the new rings are nothing like the original lockheed ones and are as soft as cheese!. Calipers sent to Big Red in surrender  who also confirmed that I had no chance!
Thanks for all the comments.

Rubber seals are good, Metal Rings quite a challenge.

Looks like Nelson kits, same as I sell. Never had any problems with their parts. I have sold several hundred kits to Saab calipers (same type of kit)

Re furbed my Lockheed calipers, new pistons seals etc.Got the first bore seals in easily but cant get the metal sealing ring to sit evenly with the second seal at the pad end. Im using new old stock but there aint no way the rings will sit evenly at the caliper. Ive managed to bend one  luckily have more but now injuring fingers in the process?

Just has my Calipers back from Big Red and they are as good as new. Well worth the investment and no more injured hands!
