Any tips on adjusting my new clutch, I tried the Haynes manual method by turning the bearing until it goes solid and then slackening off but the pedal is very high.....

Is there a stop rubber buffer on the pedal box? It may be missing..... The pedal may be dropped a bit by fitting a hardwood or metal spacer inside the pedal box, then adjusting the cable as per the Haynes manual. I believe some people have made up and fitted a pedal height adjuster bolt which acts as a stop for the pedal.

Some later cars have a spring to keep the pedal down, though it must be coupled with an "always-touching" release bearing as it maintains tension in the cable.
