It's an axle from a Viva 1800 or 2300 OHC Estate. It is not a Snoot 052 axle. I can't help with the ratio without more info. There is usually a ratio ID code stamped on the casing near the pinion.

What is the difference between saloon and estate? Surely it would have been more cost effective to use the same axle?

The only difference is a small bracket welded to the tube to attach the rear brake limiting valve which is only fitted to some estate cars.

052 Snoot axle has 12 bolts to hold the diff cover on whereas the Magnum axle has 10. This axle has 10 bolts.
I noticed this axle has modified shock absorber mounts was it used in a competition car of some sorts?

Hope your customer doesn't expect it to handle in excess of 150 bhp off the line on a regular basis.
