Wet footwells

Postby edgoose1 » Sun Dec 10, 2006 9:11 pm

I know the cars tend to leak a bit when it rains, but the drivers side floor by the pedals of the Firenza is soaking.
Normally i try and keep the car covered as much as possible in the winter. The windscreen rubber is newish and does not apear to be leaking. Is there any other spot which is known to leak. The passenger side is dry ? There is no inner wing splash gaurds as i removed these some time ago would that be a cause when driving in the wet ?

Take off the cover over the fan and wiper motor and check the bulkhead has not rotted through at the corner.

Wet footwells

Ive had them leak around the fusebox, that will cause the footwell to fill up. Silicone is best to seal round it. Also seal up the gromit next to it where the wiring goes through. Matt.

Wet footwells

9 times out of 10 it's the winscreen. Even it the rubber itself is OK, leaks
can still develop between the rubber and the bodywork.

Cheers yes did not think about the fuse box but also the gromet i think is loose in the bodywork and it would get in there.

And have you checked the seal around the manufacturing panel in the lower bulkhead? I mean the square cutout in the bulkhead at roughly the position where your toe would be, cunningly arranged to be directly in line with all the water coming off the wheel. If these aren't in top condition you can find that they leak water around the outside of the panel, straight into the footwell.
