New Oil Seal... yay or nay?

Postby Stu » Fri Apr 13, 2007 10:24 pm

Being that I am about to do my first gearbox swap, I'm not sure whether I need to replace the rear oil seal of my new box or not, and was hoping someone could give me their opinion!

The rear cover seems alright, but the bush looks a bit worn IMO.

Here's a photo of the end of the new box...

Well I don't have one, I was wondering whether I should try and source one!

If you can get one for the right money (a few quid) I'd do it - it's much easier when the gearbox is on the bench than when it gets back under the car.

Change it, otherwise we will all say "told you so!" later :)
