A good day out....

Postby 1972nail » Thu Mar 29, 2018 9:22 pm

I spent today across the 'soft border' between the UK and the EU in Donegal. A friend who lives there has a beautiful 1976 export spec 2300 Magnum Coupe. He's owned it from new and bought it because he couldn't get a new Droop Snoot Firenza, only one HPF was imported to the South of Ireland. His Magnum was a special order and was probably one of the very last ones made.

Because he wanted a Snoot it was very soon modified with brand new Snoot parts bought through his dealer. He also added a DTV stage 3H head and Snoot cam all topped off with 48 Dellortos, Luminition, and a Janspeed 4 branch. It's got full Snoot suspension and brakes too with Spax adjustables. A few years ago he swapped the Avons for 7 inch Superlites and had it resprayed in the original colour.

The owner doesn't do any DIY car work despite loving his cars and for a few years now he's been finding it increasingly difficult to find a reliable mechanic to work on the car ......and that's where I stepped in.

Before Christmas i sorted out his ignition by fitting a new coil, leads, plugs and did the resistance wire bypass. Today I fitted new rear wheel cylinders and freed up the front calipers. A beautiful car to work on and a very enjoyable day in a Euro land.

That's a fine looking car and it would be hard to think of a better reason to cross the border. What,s the name of that colour David?
Regards, Dave.

Not sure of the colour but it's a standard 1976 colour. It looks superb with it's beige export style vinyl seats.

Lovely car, David.

I think the colour might be Kashmir yellow. Very nice. :)

I think you're right. Yes, it is a lovely car and one I would be very proud to own myself. Alas, I'll just have to be happy with working on it instead.
