does anyone know the number of magnums / firenzas/ hc gls / numbers left in the country , although the how many left website can be usefull , isnt that only showing cars registered with the dvla as still registered on the roads , i find 8-10 quite a low number for magnums left , theres more than that on you tube and general pictures of them on picture hosting web sites or google images ,

No one keeps a register of what cars are left in the country because it takes a lot of work to try to keep it up to date, definitive information is sparce, there are many cars that exist in storage somewhere that are not on SORN and no matter what you compile it will not be correct. If all the owners of Viva's and their variants were in one club them it might be possible to make a guess at numbers, but that's not the reality.

I have an interest in the Firenza 2300 Sport SL and have compiled a record of how many are still known to exist worldwide and the current number is 32 with the possibility of 2 more in storage in Sweden but that has yet to be confirmed. That number includes anything that has appeared for sale anywhere since 2016 and disappeared again, cars in storage, cars that are definitely never going to be rebuilt as they are being used for spares, those that might be rebuilt in the future and roadworthy cars. Roadworthy examples stand around 18 or so.

Guy Turner (Viva Outlaws) keeps a record of Viva HB GT's and the DSG have a record of Snoots and Sports Hatches.

on the how many website it states 1800 manual 8, 1800 automatic 1 , 2300 manual 8 , 2300 automatic 1, then it lists 2 as just vauxhall magnum ehh :-?

Craig12, the "how many left" website themselves lay out half the reasons why various models have odd numbers:

As with all large government databases, there are errors in this dataset (especially since quite a lot of the data for older vehicles is based on paper records that were originally maintained by local authorities).

The most common error that crops up is vehicles that don't have exactly the correct model variant recorded on their V5 registration document. For example, a special edition Peugeot 205 Gentry might only have Peugeot 205 recorded on its V5. This can lead to some model variants appearing to be rarer than they actually are.

The key to understanding whether or not the data is accurate for your particular model is to check the model name on its V5 registration document. If it's not what you expect it to be, then it's likely that the DVLA statistics for that model aren't very accurate!

This happens more often with older vehicles, especially for those that would have originally been registered in the 1970s and earlier.

A database is only as good as the data that you feed it and a lot of old data is not that good.

Working at a car dealership and doing a lot of work on our database I've seen this a lot :) There are over 100 varients of the Subaru Impreza!

The nature of how data is submitted to DVLA does not help either. When it comes to the model name submitted to DVLA, it's the one on the type approval document. There are a total of 8 Morgan Aero 8 GTs being built but they'll never show on the DVLA stats. Morgan would have to put the car through the very expensive type approval process again just for those eight cars so as far as DVLA is concerned it's just a bog standard Aero 8. These cars will be modified post registration, honest, to the Aero 8 GT spec.
