Driving Licence Renewal

This is more significant for the over 70's as you need to renew every 3 years.
I needed to show my driving licence the other day for proof of identity and was told it was not good enough cos it was out of date
Easy enough to renew on line but the receipt for renewal says you are not covered to drive after your licence has expired until your in receipt of you renewed licence which could take up to 14 days!
