Ethanol increase proposed

This is a little something that came up a few days ago on the Chevy Blazer group I’m with. It looks like they are planning to increase the amount of ethanol in our petrol from its current 5% to 10%. The suggestion is that most pre-2011 petrol cars would have issues, presumably with the ethanol eating away at regular rubber petrol hoses. It might also have a field day eating away at the seals in the fuel pumps and any other rubber bits in carbs, unless there are ethanol friendly alternatives fitted. Timing may have to be changed, and it’s suggested that fuel consumption will increase, a smidge. Here are a couple links that were posted on the Blazer group:
