Viva HB Front and rear screen rubbers

Hello Everyone

Just to inform you that i purchased these screen rubbers https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/153382143635 and the advert clearly states "The front screen rubber fits perfectly" and too let you know it does not. Do not waste your time, as the screen rubber is not shaped in the corners and appears too be slightly too small. I have had 2 companies attempt fitting of the front screen rubber and both failed. One of the chaps from the 2nd company, had said " You would need to stretch the corners to an extreme amount, to fit the screen corners in and then i wouldn't trust if you did it"

I've even had a go myself and have spent 3 and half hours trying :angrywife:

Reason i posted, is that i've seen a few people ask about screen rubbers in the past and i thought i'd give a heads up too anybody, planning on buying them. Now the back rubber looks good, as it's moulded nicely... but the advert states you have too cut and shut it back together.

Thank you very much James for taking the time to post this, i wish more people would talk about their experiences of dealing with these chancers.
As it happens i'm in the market for new seals (HB) and its looking like ill be buying from RARE Spares as ive been advised to use them.
I guess this is who were talking about https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vauxhall-Viv ... 1438.l2649

East Kent trim claim to doo the front screen but are currently out of stock - if I remember someone claims a Mk1 Escort front screen rubber fits? - but that too is out of stock

The thing that's really annoyed me, is they claim it's a perfect fit and I've had to pay two companies, not too be able to do the job :angrywife: the (what would be) lower corners of the screen rubber is about 1" out both sides and the upper corners, about 1/2". I had my dad told one side of the screen rubber, as I pulled the one corner as hard as I could, with body weight behind it, in hope the corner of the screen would just get into the gap of the rubber.. but it was too far off.

My old screen rubber, that was fitted by someone else was the incorrect rubber, as that left gaps in the corners, and even that rubber was bigger than this one I've purchased. It did make me wonder if they sent the wrong screen rubber, but they said it was the correct rubber and their part numbers match to the item they sent.. so.. I'd say they're no good.

I had a feeling a while back, that east Kent trim is the same place as the company I purchased these rubbers from, but are under a different name. East Kent trim did get bad reputation a while ago, as I remember reading a few posts on various forums. Also on eBay they both was selling the same items, if not very similar, but I may be wrong.

I just hope no one goes through what I've gone through today! As it's been a right pain in the back side.
I'm lost with what too do now, as they was £100 and they never and wouldn't include the little metal joiners for the chrome inserts they include! You'd think they'd include them! But they told me I could buy them for an extra £4 each!

Sorry I'm still a bit heated, I just need to find an alternative now.

James

Here are some pictures of all 4 corners. Lower out by about 1" and upper 1/2". Bare in mind they are currently stretched at the moment and when me and my dad spent all night trying too fit the screen, the corners we was pulling on that hard, that the glass still couldn't be fit properly.
I'm worried that if anyone managed to get the glass in (highly unlikely) you would break the screen due to the rubber trying to go back too it's normal state. my screen flexed in the centre while attempting to get the corners over.

We and the companies tried tools and even the string method and doesn't work.

They don't appear to be the same company as East Kent Trim. Their business addresses are miles apart. Classic Car Seals would appear to be a subsidiary of Classic Car Upholstery.

I assume you are going to return the seal for a refund.

1972Nail is correct about the consumer rights.

Did you purchase it through Ebay?

"You're covered by the eBay Money Back Guarantee if you receive an item that is not as described in the listing."

That is at the bottom of the page on Ebay, they claim it fits perfectly. Yourself and 2 independent bodies have concluded it doesn't fit at all. If you can't get your money back through ebay report them to Trading Standards. Might be different if it was a £5 item but at nearly £100 that isn't acceptable.

Ive not used East Kent trim as yet, and i'm not sure i will, this is another company that i would say don't check what they are selling, you only have to look at the HB boot seal to see its a country mile off and just wont fit.

The last time i looked at the add for his screen seals they appear to have sold some, i'm guessing nobody has fitted any yet.
Have you spoke to them or messaged them about the problem, if they are that confident it fits maybe its bagged up wrong, mind you star panels stated their sills fit a HB, i think they were rather put out when i complained and sent them back.

Is it just me or are you pictures not showing?

The pictures don't come up for me either.

I don't think we have established that these rubbers are the same as the ones East Kent Trim are selling. Certainly the ones James bought from the company of another name don't fit.

Hi
I have had 2x front screen rubbers from east kent trim and they are excellent very good fit a bit wider than the original Vauxhall ones so you get a very good water tight seal also at a good price both HB I did have a few probs as they sent HC at first. But I would recommend them for HB front ive got the scotts old rubbers from Australia in both the rears they fit well but cost is high over 110 pounds each and that was a long time ago. Hope this helps I could whats happ pics if you need them.

Regards
Chris.
