Winter storage "one for you seasoned owners"

Postby Doss backup » Fri Oct 28, 2005 11:32 pm

I am garaging my HC over the winter. Anyone got any tips on how to avoid any unwanted problems in the spring when It resurfaces, ie brakes ceased engine pushed a frost plug out etc. should i take all the chrome off the arches and also the sill strip, is it a good idea to take the mudflaps of to stop the claps rusting through the piantwork on the inner lips of the arches. Petrol - is it better to fill to the top or drain? Any tips would be appreciated.
Cheers
Doss

Axel stands x 4, let the tyre pressure down, plenty of antifreeze, WD40 the chrome parts and your mud flap nuts plus inside the bumpers and wheel arch spats.a quility dust sheet. And last but not least run it for 5 mins on tick over at normal temp every week with a few revs just for good measure.

Hello Doss,

well all of my viva's live outdoors come wind rain or shine, all i could add to this is , run it around the block at least once a week, make sure you wasjh it well, get all thats salt out of the archs and it should be okay.... The white one does however deserve a garage! I would still WD40 all the chrome and nuts etc. You might just have to do it again aftre a big storm? TBH outside is only good if you intend to use it.
