Agree with what the lads are saying tbh ..
Insuring an older car with modifications isn't like insuring something newer . In a lot of cases the difference in insuring an old car , then insuring the same car but modified is negligible.
To give you an idea ..
My Viva has got a 2.0 inj , 5spd , -60mm gas suspension , polybushed , alloys , cage , harnesses blah blah - £180 fully comp on a 3000 mile a year policy ( and agreed value too)
I've also got a '77 kadett hatch - bog standard engine/box but -75mm suspension , polybushed , cage - £120 fully comp , 3000 miles a year policy ( and also agreed value ).
I appreciate they're different cars but one's a 1.2 and it's £120 to insure , the other's a 2.0 and it's £180 .. nowt between them really .
Plus on the Viva it's a policy that I can accrue no claims bonus with unlike some of the cheaper 'classic' policies ..
When I was ringing around for quotes a few years back the only real stumbling block I had was because of the cage . There are loads of companies who will quote you happy regarding suspension changes , engine swaps etc but as soon as you mention 'rollcage' that seems to narrow it down to a handful.
I've been with HIC for years now and found them to be okay . Pretty sure Adrian Flux are part of the same company too.
Oh and yeah , declare everything . My insurance company know that I've got a front splitter , bullet mirrors , central locking , a different gearknob , a K+N filter - don't miss anything out , it ain't worth it !
