Mountney steering wheel issue

Postby SL1256 » Thu Jan 14, 2010 9:32 pm

Hi all

Ive recently obtained a NOS MB073 boss for my HC, I had a 14inch wheel kicking around so fitted that but it seems like the boss is too shallow as my semi-dished wheel is too close to the wiper/indicator stalks so much so that I cant use the main beam flash and my knuckles hit the stalks.
Ive looked for a deeper dished wheel but cant find one to fit a Mountney boss.

Anyone else had the same issue?

yep had exactly the same issue, with the same solution!

the indicator stalk is angled forwards (towards the driver) so i carefully straightened it :D

You need a 1 inch spacer that goes between the wheel and the boss. Mota-lita do them, though are a bit pricy. Can't say I have seen a mountney spacer, though I guess they must have done them at some point.

Try the bend the stalk idea at your preril... I tried it years ago and the bugger came out altogether.

Have to say I do like the better quality and durability of the Mota-lita wheels.

have to agree that the moto-lita wheels are better quality but pricey!!

I got a mountney boss and wheel for under £50 for both, that would barely even buy a moto-lita boss let alone the £150+ for the wheel :(
