Help from you clever people

Postby Painter an » Tue Jan 17, 2012 12:20 pm

Right, I've got a lotus 520 4 speed gearbox the same as used in Capri 3.0 lt and early 2.8 s fits lotus 907 engine,
My question is will the bellhousing bolt off and fit ford type 9 box and therfore fit my gt engine?
Thanks for any info

Is that a type 5 Ford box? Didn't Noah put 2 of them on his boat?

I think the selector shaft hole is in the wrong place which you might be able to get over easy enough. If the engine and gearbox bolt pattern is the same then input shaft length is the next problem. Got any pictures?

type 9 is very different to 3 litre box where it joins the bellhousing and i,m 90% sure lotus and ohc vaux are different although similar? i,ve stumbled down same path ? 2.8 and 3litre boxes have different spigot shafts and type 9 2.3,2.8 boxes have different spigots from 1.6,1.8 and 2.0? diesel is same as 2.3,2.8? but different ratios

possibly a bellhousing from a chevette hs (alloy) and a getrag box from a victor vx2300gls or vx 4/90 jaguar xjs 3.6 or a manual opel monza would be cheaper than the droopsnoot box (zf)
