Could the carb be done for the 1159 HC?

I'd go for this kit for my ex-1159cc now 1256cc HB, but I would also need the side mounted air filter assembly complete, the round metal type, rather than the horrible long plastic HC type which just wouldn't suit the HB, I don't know too if the ex 1159cc HB exhaust manifold and exhaust system itself would be a bottleneck, limiting the performance, not that performance is a primary concern, economy taking precedence, for which the 150CD would presumably be better. The existing Zenith 380IZ carb is running too rich across the board, judging from the sooty plugs and has a leak from the accelerator pump, possibly its diaphragm is gone, with a visible drip of oily looking petrol hanging off it after it's been running for a while. As the car is in regular use, I'd have to amass all the necessary bits at once before commencing to swap; to what and where does the supporting bracket for the faraway extremity of the air filter attach on the Z/Stromberg equipped HBs?

I would say it will be ok for the 1159 with the setup we are putting on it....we are using the same needle which was used in the twin setup on the 2.3 cars. Two cylinders on the 2.3 measure up to 1139.5cc nearly the same as the 1159, i reckon it would work well on the 1159 as is.

2/3 i think, would have to have a dig. I know there's a single down draught out there too although that wont be much use.

The kit is based on an exchange manifold anyway, reason being most takers will probably have a 150CD setup so its a straightforward swap bar a few mods....we need to work the manifolds anyway....if you have one we will pay £5 for it.
