Coming soon...adaptor kits to fit 175CD Stromberg onto 1256

Postby viva2300 » Tue Jan 17, 2012 11:17 pm

Hi all
In development now.....Kits to convert your 1256 Viva fitted with a CD150 stromberg to a CD175 Stromberg!
Kit will include a specially modded and ported CD150 inlet manifold, the adaptor plates, and, hopefully if i can sort it, a new CD175 Stromberg carb.
We are hoping to offer the whole thing including a new carb for £100 which is a great price.
When fitted to a modded head, these can give between 4-5 bhp on top of the 8 bhp a good modded head provides.
I am looking into having heads done soon too.

Anyone interested?

Blimey, that is a good price!

I've read Mr Blydenstine recommended the CD175 and manifold or Weber as an upgrade along with the headwork and cam. Certainly a lot cheaper and easier to set up than a Weber

If we can keep prices realistic, then it makes the cars affordable to mod

DONE.... get one in the post to me straight away    At that price its a winner....

Marvin is a willing test bed, with access to local rolling road / drag strip, also I can run up safety to just under 7000, But he outstrips the fuel pump when sustained above 6500, so need to sort that one sooner rather than later.

I see 6850 in 3rd on the track .. I suspect a 175 might lower the power band to less "your going to break it" revs.. :goodideasign: so using 4th might become an option .... :D

On the subject of heads will you be doing just 1256 of earlier 1159/1057 heads? Would be interesting to see where you going with the baby engine stuff :)

PS before anyone asks 6850 in third in a HA is best described as deafening.....but fun....

Think I might have to get one too. Will make a nice choice between that and the Weber and can see which performs better, even though I hate Strombergs at the moment.

Paul
To be honest, i'll go where people want me to with it....if there is a market i'll do it. 1057 1159 1256 whatever... Obviously the head work will not be cheap, but i have a contact who has original Blydenstein drawings for all head modding work for our cars, including the OHC's, so they will be done properly.
I just see a lot of small engines not getting a second nod from anyone when it comes to modding....ok, no, they wont release huge hp, but i spoke to Bill B years ago and he told me it was a pretty strong little unit if built properly and modded correctly to his spec. I for one loved my 1256 Vivas, they certainly handled better than the 2.3! His 1159 stage 2 engine used to get 82bhp....thats not bad. The 1256 if tuned to around that spec should release a few more and have a bit more torque.
Im trying to keep it as realistic as i can cost wise....hopefully that will make some folks look again. The rolling road would be handy to gauge a suitable needle spec, although i reckon a good guess will be the B1BZ needle fitted to the early 2.3 twin carb cars....seeing as 2 cylinders equate to 1139.5cc seems a good starting point for the 1159 engine.
That needle will be tried on a mates car as soon as we have one ready.

Cam wise im looking for a good stash of 90 cams to re-profile to max of 270 profile, any more and they are undriveable and some std 1159 cams to profile to maybe a 255 profile. Not sure what the 90 cam profile was...any clues?
We may be able to get cams done for around £100 too.

Exhaust manifolds are an option too, but i need firm orders for those.....had to give Adrian his patterns back as i had them a long time  but need orders for around 6 units to make a run viable.....trying to keep these prices real too, so will be mild steel unless anyone wants SS.

Please do keep me informed with the 175 kits... would like one in the next month TBH...

Heads might be worth informing those interested if it is not possible to make some unleaded due to valve size and limited seat size in the heads...I know for a fact in all of my large heads its impossible to fit unleaded seats.

House should be able to confirm this with the "stupid" head he has....
