Carbs, heads, cams, exhausts! Wish i hadn't read this now. Where's me credit card!?

As for unleaded big valve heads, forget it. Like Paul said, limited seat size means it's not possible.

Head wise i was not going mad with them.....Just large inlet possibly (36.5mm), if we can get them....or something that fits anyway...a good gas flow and reshaping of std valves works well.

Paul B, what was the cam I bought from you? 275?

Paul C, I'd be very interested in a tubular exhaust manifold. I'd prefer one in stainless, although I know they're not cheap  my problem is, for my 1256 I'd like a Gryphon Design style exhaust the really hugs the body and runs above the gearbox crossmember, problem there is the manifold would have to be custom. In that sense I'm looking to Shamm to see if and how he develops his OHV range.

I've got a tubular waiting for the rest of the 'hot' 1256 i'm (still) going to build, but I don't think it's very good quality and it will need modifying for the above reason anyway. Plus, if I keep the Viva I'd like to go K-Series in a few years, and if I sell the Viva none of this 1256 stuff will be happening anyway, so can't commit to much until I make up my mind.

May be be a 285 cam....likely a Piper....they did a 270 & a 285. Or Blydenstein did a 278 race cam.
You really dont need anything more than a 90 cam as this is good for up to 7500 rpm if you want to go wilder on the cam, it means things dont really get going until nearly 5000 revs. Bill recommended a 260 rally cam max, and even that needs valve spring seats machining to give extra clearance on overlap and stop coil binding. Check the cam lift on yours Oli the 260's lift is..well 0.260 inches

Oh by the way...the new 175 carburettor idea for the new kits looks promising....im going to order 2 to start with. One for you Paul & one for me for a second kit to be fitted to a mates 1256 HC we are going for it and get one to you asap for Marvin.

We have now got a kit ready for use....mr B is buying the first one to fit on Marvin....who else would like one?

We have kept 'in budget' and the £100 selling price initially hoped for is now official....The kit consists of : -

A) 1 x 1256 Stromberg inlet manifold, with widened throat & port matched with head & gasket.
B) 1 x Adaptor plate to fit the CD175 Carb onto the inlet manifold.
C) 1 x NEW Stromberg CD175 Carburettor with new, fitted needle suitable for 1256.

P&P for all items comes to £7.62

Form an orderly queue
Thanks
Paul
