Vauxhall Viva Hb -70

Postby Juntunen » Fri Oct 05, 2012 11:01 pm

Hi!
I bought this Viva in 2009 and i am fifth owner. Years 1970->97 this were in Kuusamo Finland owned by woman. Seller was maybe around 80years old and first his son owned this car. Maybe his son chanced the engine from original to -73 Hc´s engine. I payd 200€ and i drove three summers with no problems. Lot of cleaning and i painted the rims. Paint looks nice in these pictures but in real live that isn`t that good.

Then i got sick with Strömberg. So i built 1. injection with Megasquirt 2.2 extra with Edis wastespark system. (what i have tried to sell in here and Finland) It worked pretty well, i didn´t have too much time to adjust cold cranking and acceleration setups. :?

I have planned Ford 2litre Ohc + type9 for two last summers and last summer (2012) i started my project. First i built rear axle. Volvo 1031 (or 1030) with disc brakes. Shock´s and antiroll bar still under construction. Maybe e30 or e36 Bmw`s springs (to get the rear little lower and stiffer)
And of course turbo is coming too some day. I left space front of Ford Transit`s cooler.

Front axle is Magnum`s with antiroll bar and bigger brakes than original Hb`s. Really low and stiff suspension (maybe too low and stiff) Have to think about those springs and dampers. I dont have brake calipers yet :(

Maybe someday technical things are Ok and then i have to think about the color. Really dark wine red is in my mind, any ideas of car`s with really dark wine red?

Also i need ideas of front + rear springs and shock`s. And when i paint that, i need new rubbers to windscreen and rear window :!: :?:

And the most important thing. More pictures: http://s1267.photobucket.com/albums/jj551/Juntunen/

A dark wine colour would look good. Window rubbers are very hard to get. Can get them from Australia I think, but expensive.

Coming along very well. Isnt that inlet manifold too tall for the bonnet to shut?

There are about 1.5cm space to bonnet. Pretty close.
