Trouble there was that when the outlet pipe split on my old Scimitar SS1 it was behind the *Bleep* tub and a real sod to get at, and the pump itself was accesssable as to all the carp it kept pumping up from when the tank had emptied itself and a chain reaction with poor electrics etc the poor thing commited Hari Kari and set fire to itself.
I have both new alternator and CVH pump twas an XR3 obviously change to go fore and aft)that remain unused as too a couple of auxillory driving lights that could be mounted on the Vivas bumpers, however I am not about to drill holes in those.
OK a lot of old BMC cars had the pumps in the boot, and often on Mins and 1100/1300s carrying a rubber mallet would revive that tell tale clicking, when whatever the vehicle,ot wouldnt initially start.
however on my HB it is below the nearside bulkhead adjoining the inner wing, however with the deceased Small Sports 1 “ experience”:that is a great tip regarding the cut off switch, albeit on one of Tamworths finest the fire apeared to be sparked off in the Webber 28/36 .
once I sorted the electronic ignition and dodgy carbs on my Vivas rebuilt engine and a few other teathing problems it actually started in what we deam wintry conditions when my Diesel Van wouldn't, but with a bit more fettling it has to be said.
Still from day one of ownership it is used all year around and went down a treat last Sunday when going to a family do for one of my Great Nieces 21st and many friends God Parents and such present.
