viva e' or (Firenza) rebuild 2.0 turbo

Postby ade » Mon May 25, 2009 9:36 am

I have bought a Firenza E coupe and my plan is to fit a 2.0ltr 230bhp Turbo lump from a Rover. As some off you know ive done this conversion before but I never used the car to its full potential so i want to do it again.
I have in line a Reliant scimmitar Lsd axle that I will be converting to disc's they reckon there indestructable we will see  front brakes will be Droopsnoot calipers with Peugeot vented disc's and coilovers all around with possibly 8x14 rear and 6x14 front wheels

I plan to make it as light as possible hence putting this in the modifications thread rather than the restoration one.

I will be removing all off the metal in the dash and parcel shelf and any metal that can be removed anywhere else, to make it as light as possible

Hopefully Mike will come up trumps with the fiberglass doors bonnet and boot  .

Inside there will be only a rollcage and 2 seats and a small dash (and a spare pair off pants  )

Outside will be bright yellow with a black bonnet but but keeping it looking as standard as possible , this may change over time, Im hoping to have it finished this time next year .

Firstly i need to get the shell up to scratch as its pretty rusty I will add pics as I go along .

This is the car as I had it

got a fair bit of work ahead of you!
will look forward to more posts on this thread, really wanna see what you do!
it helps to spur people on when they see a car getting worked on, i know sometimes i feel like i wanna sell my car, then i see people finishing theirs off and it give me a little kick up the butt.

I remember your old 820 powered viva. Very nice it was too.

Looks like the work is well under way. Will be really interesting to see what you do to the inside without all the metalwork from the dash.

Good luck Ade! Keep the pics coming.

I would take the floor out but it would be a little drafty . I still need to keep it usable as an every day car as well so that will determin some off the things i do

If the carb off the original engine is any good theres a chap in the 'Mechanical' section looking for a Stromberg. Look forward to seeing the finished beast.

Ade,
Is that the car that was for sale at the beginning of this year?
Was shown for sale on behalf of somebody by a member?
Reasod I ask is that the photo looks familiar.

Boyd :)
Please don't sell me a Viva. I'll just ruin it.
