Funny as it was , I was in Scotland, huddling in a shop doorway in Fort William back in 1982, when this old lady walked past with a beaming smile (slowly getting drowned as she walked) as she looked at me and said, "its sunny, its just above the clouds" and walked on by.... Never forgotten it...

She either was barking mad, or had been on the :drunk8:

i reckon it would be the latter paul. Huddled in the door way after a cold nights sleep.:)

We are ok here. Chch is 200miles south of where we live. Hannah felt earthquake but i slept through it. So annoying- i like a good quake.

How come the change of heart on the rotary and what are ya gonna do with the 12a then scott? I think paul is collecting them.:)

I decided against the rotary as I would have to raise the tunnel to get the box in properly, just cant bring myself to cut the shell.....Im keeping the bits though and Ill probably do the conversion one day. Id still like to get hold of the turbo bits though, lots of alloy bits to polish!
Glad to hear your far away from the quake, I remember we had a mini one here about 10 years ago.
I slept through it. 8)

yeah- i think i might have to raise the tunnel slightly- not sure yet. but i dont have posh paint to worry about. If so I'm not looking forward to grinding inside the car.

Anyway- a crossflow is all good. i wish i had left mine in sometimes as id be driving the car right now...but it was bloody agricultural compared to a 12A. crossflow still did 35 mpg too. i think they are a cool engine in a viva!.

photos please :D

Im having a dilemma....Im having problems with the front hubs (escort hubs machined back with 2.8 capri discs), I cant get the discs to clear the bottom balljoints on full travel. So I was thinking of using OHC Viva brakes and hubs for sake of easiness.
If I do that it would then mean I have different PCD wheels front to rear, somthing Im not keen on. My plan is to use an OHC Viva rear axle as well as I dont think a standard 1600 Crossflow really warrents an LSD.
This means I would have a few bits to sell, Rear axle, LSD, set of 7x13 superlites and new wilwood calipers. The money from that lot would pay for a nice Tony Law manifold and a few other bits. It also means its all Viva again apart from the engine.
What do people think?

is there no way you can jiggle the discs around bx re- spacing them and the calipers to suit. I'm figuring you looked long and hard at that. Is a shame i think. Nothing wrong with hybrids.:) i'd wanna keep the lsd. A nice handling car with great brakes and traction is better than just a fast one unless you just want to be a strip day driver. And with all those lovely quiet winding scottish roads you'll love it.
Let mr law wait i say! :-)

I thought Id post a wee update, Ive been busy with the engine. Ive built a 1700 crossflow with hepolite pistons, Kent BCF3 cam and a ported head(still away getting the valve seats done).
I had a go at making a manifold, I wanted it to be equal length and fill the bay a bit. Its made from mandrel bends TIG welded together and the welds smoothed and polished, took bloody ages but its turned out well I think.
