Thanks Alex, I work for Rolls Royce with jet engines. RB211 engines as fitted to A380,s and such. Im a fitter/inspector so Im spannering and measuring stuff, not the most difficult job going!
Im self taught at welding though, I bought a TIG years ago and its taken me this long to get reasonable at it, its not difficult Im just a slow learner.
Id like to see the stuff you could come up with when you get a TIG!!!

As for the fan switch Im not sure, I think it depends on the temp they switch at. Mine uses Ford switches which go in the top of the radiator. I think the one on my Passat is in the middle so it probably has a lower switching temp.
You can get switches with adjustable temperature, you could set it to what you wanted then...

I did a bit more today, I bought a new distributor with no vacuum advance to use with the bike carbs. Its from Bestek and seems to be very good quality, time will tell though!

Hi Alex, sorry for the late reply! Yep its getting warmer here, been really nice up here the last two days with sun and around 20 degrees! (thats summer done then! )
Ive been busy with the car, the gearbox had to come apart again as it ate a bush. Turned out to be another manufacturing fault from Quaife (Nightmare of a company!!), so it had to be rebuilt with new bushes and a shaft which actually had an oil feed drilling...

Bit of success today though......

Ive just had Retro Cars Magazine on the phone, they want to do a feature on it. They did one on my green HC a while back after Id sold it, its good to get a feature when Ive still got the car!
