Have you got heating in your garage Scott - I thought paint doesn't like low temps!
I certainly don't!! - all restro work has been shelved for now!
Fred
Ive sprayed it with etch primer then a coat of stonechip.

I want to get my HB that clean and tidy underneath- looks great! I think its so hot here right now that I could roll it over and wait an hour then scrape it off :D

(when will I stop mentioning how hot and sunny it is here.....?)

Ive started on the back axle. I cut off the axle brackets from the viva axle and welded them to the English. Still got the top arms to do.

I think I might put a panhard rod on aswell, Ive seen kits for escorts which could be modified.....more work to do.

tiggy wiggy- an english axle- is that the escort/capri one. Whats the width of them? About the same as standard? Does it need a panhard rod? i thought with new stiiffer bushes they were quite well located. I'm going to keep a look out for a piazza axle for mine- i fitted one to my old chevette and lovely axle to use. its just finding one these days....

Nice work Scott , nice to see you're braving the cold . Floorpan looks good.

Agree re the panhard rod kit , gotta be an Escort one that could be modded , surely . Or I'm sure Rally Design do 'build your own' adjustable ones ..

Got the car turned over again so I could paint underneath, also made a tower for the panhard rod. Im waiting in some rod ends to come so I can make the panhard rod and the top arms for the axle...
Its good to get a bit of paint on the car, seems like progress is being made!!! :D

what colour is that? its really nice! did you paint that straight over the primer or did you under seal floorpan first? does look like progress! I wish I could roll mine over but i think its only safe to do so if its an empty shell like yours and I'm not keen to strip mine down right now....so that means its underseal in my eyes time....

Hi Alex, its Ford electric blue. I didnt really like the original blue but I like bright pastel colours so this is going on instead, also means I dont have to change the colour on the V5...

I scraped all the underseal off with a gasket scraper and a blowtorch the used paint stripper and a wire brush to get to bare metal. There were a few bits of surface rust to dig out then it got a coat of proper acid etch, then a coat of white stonechip. You can paint straight on to the stonechip as theres no need to prime.(Taken me 2 months....)

Depends on what you want to do Alex, if you want to tidy it up and dig out some surface rust and put on more underseal I would do it as the car is. If you want to get all the rust,(surprising what you find under sound underseal!!) and get a painted finish then its best to be stripped and turned over, Ive done the whole laying on my back thing...Never again!!! Its not to much trouble to strip a viva, theres not much on them! :D
