Hi Alex, Ive taken it off ebay for the mag feature to get done first. Give me your adress and Ill pop one in the post for you. (along with any other small viva bits you think you may need?)
Im still having a few problems though with starting. Most of the time it will start without any bother but somtimes it will turn over too slowly to start, like theres too much ignition advance...Ive checked the starter and the wiring, I even swapped the carbs to see if there was an issue there. Ive ordered a new solenoid which should be here today so Im hoping to see some progress!

Other than these problems it goes well, havent really booted it yet as its a fresh engine but it does sound nice, Ill put a video up when its running a bit better.

Im having second thoughts on selling it now, but Ive got a Mk1 Escort needing a paint job and a new house which needs a kitchen....Might just sell the house and live in the car!

Is anyone else from here going to the PPC do at Mallory? Ill be there in the Viva, got track time booked...

Scott.

Cool scott- tell me when feature is done and I can PM my address to ya- cheers.

Well you know what you could do with the escort...sell it?! :D And then keep the Viva which imo is far cooler.

Alex, pics for the feature were done yesterday (all bloody day!!). Not sure when its in but Ill let you know.

Its been sunny up here for more than a week, like a whole summers worth in one go! Been doing miles in the Viva, need to make sure its reliable for the trip to Le Mans! (thats if I still have it...)

Bit of news today, I could never get the bike carbs to work properly on my engine so I swapped them for a twin choke weber (DGV). After a service and a bit of setting up it runs far better thank it did on the bike carbs. Doesnt sound as nice when you floor it but its far better on fuel!

Ive probably done around 150 miles today and its been fine. Im off to Fife in it tomorrow so thats another 350 miles...

Im really happy with the car now, all set for a trip to France!

Yeah Im happy with the DGV. Splashed out and got a proper K&N for it, much tidier (sounds naughty aswell!). The car managed the trip to Fife without any issues but there is one thing I need to do somthing about. The diff ratio is shocking!, seriously, if Im doing 3500rpm in top gear its only about 60 mph. Not sure what the diff ratio is but my top gear is 0.85-1 so should be better than the original 4 speed...

Is there an alternative diff?

Im not looking forward to my drive down to Mallory next weekend the way it is, may have to leave the day before...

Hi Paul, yes its a standard HB axle. I may be on the lookout for another axle now anyway as I have a bad vibration which I thought was prop related but seems to be axle now.

What options are available as far as ratios go?

Scott.

I assume you have a std ratio of 8:33 which is 4.12:1 there was a 9:35 that is 3.88:1 available which raised gearing at the axle.
What size wheels and tyres are you running? This has a drastic effect on gearing too.
