Following on from my hello thread about saving a Viva from the srap man I thought I would fill you in on my progress so far. This is not going to be a resto project my aim is to make the Viva reliable and use it

So far I have cleaned and adjusted the brakes, replaced the brake hoses and renewed the brake fluid.



I have replaced the top and bottom radiator hoses and renewed the anti freeze




I have also replaced the breather hose but noticed pipe that is attached to the plate under the carb is broken so that will need replacing at the moment I have just blocked the hole up

I have also noticed that the fuel line has been replaced and brake pipe has been used!!!!!. I have some 8mm fuel line to replace it.

My lodger has been cleaning the interior while I did the brakes

Looking good. Keep the postings coming as you keep improving it. Looks very nice and it's a shame about the rear quarter. Looks like a lump of filler has come out. Has it had a skim over a smallish dent?

Yeah looks like th rear quarter has been damaged in the past and a skim of filler was used as a repair, the damage doesn't look very bad from inside

Al lthe mechanical work is now done, only other thing I might change is the radiator and thermostat.

I have been busy cleaning up the underbody and undersealing, got to say I am really happy about the lack of rot on this car









Only place I need to repair is wheel arch, is it possible to get a repair panel for this as it's a fair bit of work to try and rebuild what isn't around anymore





Hopefully it won't be long until I can use the Viva

You can get wheel arch repair panels and lower rear quater ones. But they dont pop up often and hence can be quite pricy. Might be quicker and cheaper to sort out yourself. Its looking good.

Just a coat of stone chip to put on now and we are motoring for the first time in 26 years

So here he is on the road after a 26 year break and now known as Norman , gave him a good clean and polish today. Now I just need to find the time to take him out and about to a few show.

Looks very smart, well done. Hope you enjoy using him.

Unfortunately he is off the road already!!!! but it's a minor set back as the radiator is leaking slightly, should be all fixed by tomorrow
