Viva HB Lower Front Suspension

Hi, I got a new set of bushes for my HB through the owners club. When I have tried to fit the replacement lower front suspension arm bush it is too big. Does the steel sleeve have to come out of the arm for this bush to fit?
The bush is the same size as the outer circumference of the steel tube.

Any help

Hi Bob.

I wouldn't like to say for sure, but I have just rebuilt the suspension on my HC with Superflex bushes, so they may be different. I did have to cut out the sleeve to get the new bush in, if the new bush and the sleeve are the same circumfrence I'm guessing you will have to do the same.

Stuck mine in a big vice and put a cut down the middle of the sleeve with a hacksaw, then curled the edges inwards with a pair of grips. A pain in the  but a treat to do compared with the rear upper arm bushes on the axle!

Hi, any HB owners who have fitted new bushes. Do I need to cut the steel tube out to fit the new bush?

Thanks Bob

yes you need to remove the old steel tube if you have standard replacement parts. Use the new bush to press out the old tube for instance.......

(The arms were originally designed for a bush without steel tube but they later upgraded them to a far more stiffer version with outer steel tube.)
