sorry I dont seem to have any photos of this car.
Since my membership lapsed I cannot access the members area of the club website which has archived photos of past club events . I do recall that Steve did attend a few club events...try the national for Oct 1987 and billing for 1988 his car may be lurking somewhere!.

This car is a standard saloon in Elkhart yellow colour.
It underwent a total rebuild of the body in 1980, when I first bought it.
The engine was rebuilt in 1985, the car has now covered 1**, ooo miles

Had a look at the National 87, we dont have any pictures(anyone got any?), but it does mention a Stephen Smith arriving with a GT.

We dont have anything at all on Billing 88, anyone got any pictures, info?

Hi all sorry for not posting for a while not done much progress on the car either :/ I'm hoping to get underway with it in the next few weeks, been speaking to a few people and been hearing "beyond repair" quite abit anybody done a resto on anything as bad or even worse ?

Hard to tell until it's all stripped down - I think my Sportshatch started off worse than that. Nothing's beyond repair if you have the time and enthusiasm, especially something that's still basically sound as your car seems to be. View it as a long-term project - you need to be able to leave it for a few months without feeling guilty about it, and without a deadline, you won't be stressing about being behind schedule. Remember that when people say "beyond repair" very often they mean "too much like hard work" and if you can't get panels, even more so.

That's for the help ill be sorting the f/o/s chassis leg first and I'll go from there, I'll be getting pictures up of the work as I go wish me luck

Unusual to see a Mk1 on a 'H'. A friend had a Mk1 on a 'J' but it was a competition shell from new, then road registered. If I recall over the years I have seen HBs on 'K' and 'L' regs maybe an 'M' too...maybe an import?

If I recall correctly what Steve Smith once told me, the car when brand new was a showroom display car in a Leicester dealership and was for quite a time, apparently quite a few GT's had this time difference between build dates and registration as it was quite a rare model and the dealers hung onto them and only registered them when they were finally sold on.
